GOT Spoiler-filled Review of S702 and predictions
Good morrow fellow Geeks! Tis I, Kenny Van Bearskin here to revel with you in what we has been seen in The Long Night to come!
...As you can tell, I was in high school Theater and played D&D before. Let’s get right into my personal high and low moments of Game of Thrones Season 7, episode 2 “StormBorn”
What I Loved

Right into the thick of it: Unlike episode one, We are thrust into action as we see Mother of Dragons plan beginning to unfold. Melisandre arriving at DragonStone was a great vehicle to accelerate this season towards “The Long Night” situation all of Westeros will be facing soon. Now almost all of the important figures in Westeros has been told of the coming White Walkers.
Daenarys has also reached out to Jon Snow in the North, “Requesting” his audience. Samwell has also sent a raven to Jon letting him know that a large cache of Dragonglass can be found at DragonStone. So this was a no-brainer for Jon to go to The Mother of Dragons himself (Along with the Onion Knight, Sir Davos). Leaving Lady Sansa in charge. Yessssssss! Wardeness of the North!...temporarily.

Varys, The People’s Champ: Kudos to this suave, bald mofo to be able to confront a Death by Dragon scenario in order to make his point: Yes he has pretty much back-stabbed every Lord or Lady he has counseled, yes he ordered Daenarys to be assassinated back in the early onset of the show. He never denies any of it.
He in fact has gone ahead and said that he does what is right for the common folk, the people that don’t play this deadly game but are still affected by it. Favorite line of the episode was from Varys, simple put “Incompetence should not be rewarded by blind loyalty!” As long as the current Lady he stands for the greater good of the people, he will serve fiercely.
All Daenarys asks of him after that speech is come forward with his disagreements before trying to kill her in the future. Hehe

Attack on King's Landing fails before it happens: Before the ships can invade King's Landing (after right before Yara can invade Ellaria *wink wink*) Euron Greyjoy comes to ruin the party and very decisively boards and wipes out Dorne and Yara’s soldiers. And in the process, has collected his Gifts for Cersei in the form of hostages. Yes I’m happy about the way this turned out. There I said it.
Dorne and the Sand Snakes didn’t have much to contribute throughout the series, especially in Season 6 (in my opinion of course) so having them be taken care of in this matter is successful in driving the story and the progression of this war. They rarely had any scenes or dialogue worth listening to lately. Sucks to see Yara be captured, as Theon Greyjoy “Reeked” out and jumped ship, but this all needed to happen to bring this war closer to a crescendo in the upcoming episodes.

Arya is Winterfell bound!: This short scene gave everyone watching at home such joy! Arya hears that Jon is alive, and King of the North no less! Watching Arya smile like that in this scene shows that there is a small hope in her heart that things may be turning for the better for her family. This give me great pleasure knowing that the Stark sisters may finally have a reunion we’ve been waiting seasons for. Sansa has changed. Arya has changed. The Wardeness and Assassin will be make for a scene to come!

MVP of this episode: Grey Worm Now I know what you are thinking, the story arc with Grey Worm and Missandei is insignificant compared everything else going on this show. And you would be correct. My point is that their relationship has been one of the few positive spots on this show lately. It’s good for the soul to see that through this chaos there is still passion like this. And good on Grey Worm for his cunnilingus.
What I didn’t like

Bye Bye CGI Wolves: I was so happy and sad at the same time to see Nymeria finally meet up with Arya. After 6 seasons, we finally get to see the interaction. But instead of the Super Wolfpack in my mind, we got to witness 8 normal sized “wolves” and one CGI beast. I understand that it is expensive and difficult to be able to have Dire Wolves on this show, but dammit this scene left a lot to be desired as a lover of the book series.
Arya speaking with Nymeria and coming to the conclusion that it’s been too long of a separation makes sense and allows the writers the option to never bring Nymeria back. With that being said, that fucking sucks. I want my WolfPack dammit!

How food looks nasty in Westeros: First let me say, I enjoyed the scene between Jorah and Sam as he is helping remove the greyscale infection using a “unconventional” technique. Pretty much it’s removing the stone scales with a knife and putting some medicine on it. You feel the pain that Jorah is going through. The puss and blood coming out in that scene didn’t make me flinch. However, that transition to a pot pie with a fork made me dry heave a bit. Give the editors credit for making this gag not once but twice on this show this season. But please no more!
Just show the gore!

No Grey Worm “moneyshot”: Is it just me, or was it disappointing that we didn’t get to see His nether regions on this episode. For a show that has brought low hanging, old man balls, crush-in Viper skull, and naked flesh a plenty, I’m surprised that we were not given a small cut (pun not intended) of what he is no longer packing.
MY RATING: 7/10 I enjoyed this episode. Most of my dislikes for the episode were really just nick-picking really. “StormBorn” provides the building blocks needed for this world to come crumbling down as everyone slowly realizes the Nightmare that is coming from the North. I would have given this a higher score, if it wasn’t for the two minute spot of Nymeria that we may never see again. Also the fact that we have yet returned to The Wall where Barn is currently waiting to hear from Jon. Bah!
Predictions for Episode 3: The Queen’s Justice
(some of these predictions may be far out of the norm and I know that. But a geek can dream can’t he?!)
Jon meeting Daenarys will be exciting, but Davos encountering Milesandre again will be an intense scene to come. I do remember that he would personally kill her if he sees her again. Will that happen? I hope so!
Varys will have some words with Melisandre. This will have her unraveled more of the story regarding the sorcerer in his childhood. Varys may have no choice but to help Davos eliminate her to keep the secret.
There will be another scene with Samwell that involves something disgusting that will turn into food via editing and I will yell at the TV
The unsullied will have an easier time at Casterly Rock then the Sand Snakes did for sure. But it will be at the cost a lot of warriors, maybe even Grey Worm himself. But not likely.
Theon will be the one to arrive at Dragonstone to give the grim news of their fleet that was vanquished by Euron.
I have a weird feeling that we will see an interaction with Tyene Sand and the Zombie Mountain. Having that throw away conversation on the ship with her cousins was probably foreshadowing that she’ll have to deal with Him. Probably Cersei “feeding” her to the Mountain. I know, random thought
Jon and Daenarys’s meetup will be short this episode. Probably have it be the last 10 minutes of the show. I hope I am wrong!
Olenna Tyrell ‘s army will be able to cause significant damage to the Lannisters. However, I feel the title of this episode gives me enough clues to note that this will be the end of Olenna. That lady will go out swinging though, probably one last trick up her sleeve before she passes.
Please let us know what you think about this past episode and what you think will happen this coming Sunday. The Battle of Fire and Ice is coming soon!
